No balloons of any kind are permitted anywhere in Lerner Hall due to the risk of triggering fire and sprinkler sensors. There are no exceptions made for this policy in order to maintain safety and fairness for all.
Other temporary decorations for meeting or event rooms and public spaces may be approved by Event Management where conditions allow. Any damage caused by use of decorations will be repaired at the expense of the responsible parties.
Materials, including printed materials, banners and decorations that do not follow the above guidelines or have not been approved will be removed. No decorations made from combustible materials (such as paper, plastic, cloth, etc.) are permitted to hang in Lerner Hall.
New York City Fire Code does not permit live holiday decorations, such as trees or wreaths, in Lerner Hall. Artificial greens must have certificates of flame proofing.
Heat sources, cooking equipment and open flames (i.e. candles, sternos, electric water heaters, toasters) are not allowed in Lerner Hall unless specifically authorized and supervised by Event Management at one of their events.
